Even in League of Legends – a game which involves slaughtering enemy after enemy – there’s still a whole lot of love. Xayah and Rakan are literal lovebirds with an unbreakable bond, and Lucian dedicated his whole life to trying to save Senna’s soul from “mr. steal yo waifu.” And of course, who could forget Ezreal’s secret infatuation with Shyvana’s leg? Aside from loved-up champions, Riot Games has also blessed us with some love-themed skins too – we’ve ranked them all below based on how much they make our hearts swoon.
14. Sweetheart Rakan
Released: February 12th, 2018 Price: 1350 RP Riot really did Rakan dirty with this skin. This should have been the perfect skin for Rakan – a self-proclaimed love bird – but it’s instead the worse skin Rakan has. To be honest, I would go as far as saying it’s one of the worst skins in the game. The character model is an eyesore. The colors are obnoxious and the outfit is weird and far from anything Rakan would actually wear. The particle effects are equally lackluster. Sure, you get snazzy pink hearts and sparkles, but there’s nothing that really sets the skin apart from others. The cute joint recall is the only thing that makes this skin worth a glance. As a Rakan main who owns all his skins (yes, even this atrocity), I only equip this skin on Valentine’s day. And even then, it doesn’t make me feel “the love.”
13. Sweetheart Xayah
Released: February 12th, 2018 Price: 1350 RP Xayah’s Sweetheart skin is a lot better than Rakan’s, but it’s still not great. The character model is bland and it’s made her ears look pretty derpy. Animations are solid, but nothing to write home about. That said, her feathers do get a sweet makeover, and the recall essentially turns you into Snow White – perf for all the lovey-dovey Disney fans out there.
12. Heartseeker Quinn
Released: February 2nd, 2017 Price: 975 RP This skin doesn’t do Quinn justice in any way, shape, or form. The outfit looks like something Tinkerbell would wear, and really doesn’t flatter Quinn’s physique. Animations also feel pretty clunky – not something you want as an AA-reliant champion – and the recall is just Quinn swinging her way back to base. But hey, at least Valor gets an awesome glow up.
11. Sweetheart Annie
Released: February 13th, 2015 Price: 750 RP I have mixed feelings about this skin. You get a unique character design and Tibbers gets a Care bear makeover, but the particle effects are… well, nonexistent. There’s not even a single heart or pink hue in sight. It makes playing with this skin an incredibly jarring experience; you look utterly adorable, then shoot out fireballs. That said, the splash art is insanely cute (as long as you can look past the fact that Annie’s hair looks completely different in-game).
10. Heartseeker Lucian
Released: February 2nd, 2017 Price: 1350 RP This skin probably won’t leave your heart fluttering anytime soon. While he does look dapper, the overall look is pretty bland, and the animations don’t visually stand out (in fact, it’s actually quite hard to tell them apart!). Nevertheless, the animations feel slick and you do get some nifty heart-themed muzzles on your guns. Plus, the recall is playful and definitely apt for Valentine’s day. Is it worth 1350 RP? Well, if you’re after a dapper look for Lucian – whether to impress Senna or your opponent – then yes, 100%.
9. Heartseeker Orianna
Released: February 11th, 2016 Price: 1350 RP While animations are a little lackluster, the skin makes up for this with its adorable character model. It essentially transforms Orianna into a robot ready to prove to the world that she too has a heart (albeit with a few more wires and cogs). It’s packed with hearts, an animesque hairstyle, and a whole lot of ribbons. Plus, the ultimate is pretty satisfying and hilarious to watch; it summons up a giant heart and scatters rose petals as you send your enemies to the gray screen of death.
8. Heartpiercer Fiora
Released: February 11th, 2019 Price: 1350 RP Heartpiercer Fiora brags the most badass splash art out there; loading into game with it honestly levels up your confidence by tenfold. The character model is equally impressive (and worth bowing down to). Fiora is literally transformed into the “Queen of Hearts,” and the skin is bursting with eyecatching colors and intricate details. While the puffy outfit and OTT royal look won’t suit everyone’s tastes, I personally love feeling like a total queen while I pierce through my enemies’ hearts left, right and center. Plus, animations are cute as hell – and the recall gives you a whole new skin to feast your eyes upon.
7. Heartbreaker Vi
Released: February 11th, 2019 Price: 1350 RP Vi broke Caitlyn’s heart when she pulled the classic Romeo and Juliet card back in Arcane. So, what’s stopping her from breaking everyone else’s (and your enemies’)? Jokes aside, Heartbreaker Vi is a solid, all-round skin. She rocks a nifty pair of heart-themed gauntlets and animations feel ultra-smooth. Plus, her indicator is now a broken heart and offers great visual clarity. The ultimate also feels super impactful, and your recall even lets you smash a heart into the ground. It’s a bit overkill with the pink, but I personally love pink so I’m not complaining.
6. Heartseeker Vayne
Released: February 14th, 2012 Price: 975 RP Heartseeker Vayne is probably the most unique-looking skin in the line. She ditches pinks and frills for a badass but sexy red suit of armor. Sure, it’s a little revealing and OTT in the fanservice department – but it gets top marks for originality and actually honors Vayne’s killer personality. Animations are also responsive and visually distinct, which is sure to help you land that final blow (and keep your vaynespotting points low). Oh, and your ult summons up a horde of love-hungry bats, because why not?
5. Heartseeker Ashe
Released: February 14th, 2014 Price: 975 RP Heartseeker Ashe takes the “Queen of Hearts” theme to the next level. She even summons up a throne in her recall and rocks an extravagant cape. The overall character model is exceptionally well-made, though where the skin really rules above others is in the animation department. Plus, the ult has a new look that makes the hitbox seem smaller than it actually is, which is sure to catch out your enemies.
4. Sweetheart Sona
Released: February 11th, 2016 Price: 975 RP If you’re after a budget-friendly skin to gift your gamer waifu, then Sweetheart Sona fits the bill. At only 975 RP, you get a creative character model, a magical recall, and adorable particle effects. The colors all look great and the skin is brimming with original features. Plus the splash art is gorgeous enough to feature on a Valentine’s Day card.
3. Heartseeker Jinx
Released: February 4th, 2020 Price: 1350 RP Right. To appreciate this skin you have to forget who Jinx is entirely, so it’s not ideal for diehard fans of lore. But if you’re willing to overlook this – or are able to convince yourself that Jinx’s madness has led her to become a blood hungry yandere – then this skin is pretty decent. The character model looks totally divine and is loaded with fun touches, from a kawaii bear-themed shoulder pad to heart hair accessories. Particle effects look beautiful too, and feel smooth and slick in game. Where this skin really wins my heart over though is the recall scene. It packs a really tasty (and hilarious) plot twist!
2. Heartseeker Yuumi
Released: February 4th, 2020 Price: 1350 RP Riot giving Yuumi a heartseeker skin is pretty ironic, considering she’s by far the most hated champion in League of Legends. But it does look absolutely amazing, so I’ve got to give Riot credit where credit’s due. Animations and particle effects are bursting with love, sparkles, and an endless amount of hearts, and everything feels clean, clear, and smooth. The Q is actually a pay2win ability – it makes it harder for your enemies to see your poke, especially during chaotic teamfights! The book also looks like it came straight out of Beauty & the Beast, and the overall character design is cute without being too in your face.
1. Heartseeker Varus
Released: February 13th, 2015 Price: 1350 RP Whoever made this skin is a comedy genius. It pretty much turns Varus into a full-sized Cupid. He rocks a pair of insanely tiny wings, an extravagant heart-themed bow, and the skimpiest armor in existence. Even the sound effects are hilarious, with your ultimate letting you literally give your enemies the “kiss” of death. Animations are bursting with pink hues and scatter hearts, petals, and sparkles everywhere. But what makes this skin worthy of the top spot? The fact that your bow gets an upgraded, extra extravagant form whenever you shoot out your long-ranged arrow. It’s an amazing feature, especially considering the skin only costs 1350 RP. Put simply: Heartseeker Varus is sure to tilt your enemies, while filling that empty hole inside your heart.
